Beating Retreat 1960

Here's another photo. of the RWF Beating Retreat at the Slate Quay, Caernarfon about 1960?
It was a lovely bright Saturday evening but the Regimental goat was particularly 'lively' to say the least and Goat Major Johnny Jones had his work cut out trying to control it. As the parade marched along towards the Aber bridge the goat started to pull really hard on the lanyard and finally broke away, charging head down towards the crowd of onlookers. You've never seen the crowd open up so quickly! It was like the parting of the red sea!
When Johnny finally caught the goat there came an enormous clap of thunder and we were all drenched to the skin with a very heavy rainfall. It was obvious that the goat could sense the impending storm.
Look at the dark sky, top right of the picture.
I'll never forget it!
