Nos. 1,3,& 5 Moriah Square. On the left, the chimney of the tannery and the back wall of the Boys’ School. On the right, the back of Salem Chapel and Lôn Bach Bwgan, which are still there.
My grandfather, Martin Edward Smith, owned both nos 1 & 3. He and the family lived in no 1. After his death he left it to his youngest daughter, Eluned, who married Jack Thomas, Crosville bus driver.
His third daughter, Florence, lived in no 3. She was married to Owen Jones (Now Astons), they had four children, my cousins, Stella, Elizabeth, Harry and Eiddon. Aunty Florrie and Uncle Now later were caretakers at Moriah chapel and lived in the house at the back of the chapel.
